H43 Team Nobby wins with Simon Jespersen and achieves another podium with Carlos Cano

The Spanish team continues with the good dynamic of results and achieves a first place in the Supersport class and a third place in Moto4 in Sunday’s races

H43 Team Nobby has closed the fifth round of the Spanish Supperbike Championship in an excellent way. The team led by Manuel Hernández has achieved this weekend a victory and a podium in Supersport and another two podiums in Moto4. After Saturday’s successes, the team approached Sunday’s races with confidence.

In Supersport, the second race of the weekend was dominated by H43 Team Nobby. Simon Jespersen took the victory after an intense fight with class leader Borja Gómez. From the very first laps, the two riders were fighting for the victory until the H43 Team Nobby rider overtook his rival in the last corner and crossed the finish line in first position. With this victory, Jespersen remains third in the overall standings with 140 points and cuts five points off the leader.

For his part, Joan Díaz had a great race. The Catalan rider, who started 20th on the grid, moved up to ten positions, firmly overtaking his rivals and being very consistent lap by lap. In the end, Díaz finished in tenth position. In addition, Davide Fabbri improved his results from Saturday’s first race and finished fourteenth, bringing the Italian rider back on points.

Simon Jespersen #43“I don’t know if I can feel any better… I’ve been working hard to get back to the top of the podium and we really struggled during the weekend, especially since my crash in free practice. Even so, we tried to find solutions, to try different things and in the end I believed in Manuel, in my telemetric Andrea and in my father. They were sure about the changes we had to make today, and it was a good solution, here we have the result of believing in the team. I couldn’t be happier, I want to thank the whole team, Michelin, the sponsors and everyone who makes this possible”.

Joan Diaz #19: “It has been a very complicated weekend, I really don’t know exactly why we haven’t been higher, maybe it was because of the crashes I suffered in Barcelona. I’ve been out of action for the last month recovering and I wasn’t able to prepare well for the race. This Sunday we took a step forward, I improved and I was able to be myself again on the track, being more aggressive and overtaking rivals. Even so, I’m happy to leave Navarra with a better feeling. I’m looking forward to Valencia, last year we did very well there and we hope to repeat great results”.

Davide Fabbri #64: “At the beginning of the weekend I struggled to get into the rhythm of the race, as I hadn’t been riding for a while. I had some problems with the bike but, thanks to the work of the team, we were able to solve them. In the first race on Saturday I was pretty good and then in Sunday’s race I made a step forward. The truth is that I am very happy because we have improved a lot these days, we have to keep learning and I am sure that in the next race we will have good results”.

Manuel Hernández (Team Manager)“Today, once again, we were very competitive. It’s repetitive, but here we come to compete and to win, and today we did it. Regarding Simon Jespersen, this Sunday what we thought yesterday could have happened in the first race happened, but we have to be aware that the riders are learning, they are very young and they are here to improve. Yesterday we planned the race strategy differently and, after an important team meeting with Simon, today we changed it and the result was unbeatable. As for Joan, today he has made a change compared to yesterday, he hasn’t raced for a long time and that has been noticeable. In Sunday’s race, as he started from so far back, he couldn’t do much either. As for Davide, he continues to improve his times, he is getting closer and closer to the group and the truth is that it has been a positive weekend for him. As the week started, with the crashes of Simon and Juan Rodriguez, who hopefully will recover as soon as possible, I think we can be very satisfied with what we have done”.

Carlos Cano repeats podium in the second race of Navarra

After Carlos Cano’s great performance in the first race of the weekend, the young rider from Murcia was one of the most outstanding riders on Sunday. Cano fought for the victory throughout the race and, on the last lap, when he was second, just a few thousandths of a second behind the first classified, he had a small touch with a rival and crossed the finish line in fourth position. Finally, after a race direction penalty to the race winner for irregularities on his bike, the H43 Team Nobby rider moved up to third. As the disqualification came after the end of the race, Cano was unable to stand on the podium.

With this result, the young H43 Team Nobby rider still has a chance to fight for the championship title in his category and remains third with 146 points.
Carlos Cano #71“I felt very good during the race, I was saving myself for the last few laps so that I could position myself to win the race. When we were halfway through the race, I saw that I was falling a bit behind and I had to push hard to get to the front group. In the last corner, I was in second place and I was going to overtake the first rider, but when I came out of the corner the bike skidded behind me and I couldn’t take the win. The important thing is that I was able to save the crash and finished the race. In the end, due to the penalty given to the first rider, I managed to finish third. I am very happy with our performance and we are already thinking about the next race in Valencia”

Manuel Hernández (Team Manager)“Regarding Carlos Cano, he is getting us used to always being in the front group. The last laps he did in today’s race were a spectacle and you can see that he has a huge potential. On the last lap he was in first position, then he touched with a rival and finished fourth. Finally, because of the disqualification of the first, he finished third. We are all very happy with him“.

The next round of the Spanish Superbike Championship will be at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo, in Valencia, on the weekend of the 23rd and 24th October.
