Learning weekend for the H43 Team Nobby at Portimão

Despite being a new circuit for the H43 Team Nobby riders, the team was able to finish the weekend with a good feeling for the upcoming rounds

The Portimão circuit hosted the fourth round of the FIM CEV Repsol. The H43 Team Nobby arrived in Portugal with the intention to continue progressing and to improve the sensations in the European Championship.

German rider Nicolas Czyba is still recovering from the injury he suffered in the first race at Estoril and could not be present at the fourth round of this championship.

The weekend started with an energetic free practice in which Guillermo Moreno set his best lap in FP1 with a time of 1:49.975. The Mexican rider finished the session with a very good feeling and with a constant pace throughout the day.

In qualifying, the H43 Team Nobby rider improved his lap times from the free practice and set the fastest lap in QP1 with a time of 1:49.895. In the second qualifying session the Mexican rider had a crash which prevented him from improving his lap times. Fortunately, Guillermo Moreno did not suffer any injuries and, thanks to the good work of the team, he was able to run Sunday’s race without any problems.

The race day did not start in the best possible way for Guillermo Moreno, the Mexican rider could not find his best version in the first race and finished in seventh position. The dynamic changed in the second race, in which the H43 Team Nobby rider improved his results and was able to finish in fifth place. The Mexican rider kept a constant and competitive pace that allowed him to finish with a better feeling in a circuit that was totally new to him.

Manuel Hernandez (Team Manager): “Guillermo was not able to show his full potential on a circuit he didn’t know, he has never been here before and it took him some time to learn the circuit. Even so, we can see that the progression is good, he is learning and improving race after race”

Bad luck cuts short Mateusz Pasiuk’s good progress

The Polish rider continues to gain experience in the Hawkers European Talent Cup with H43 Team Nobby. The young rider was fighting throughout the weekend in Group B of the HETC. In free practice on Friday, Mateusz Pasiuk set the fastest time in FP2 with a lap time of 1:55.652.

After an intense free practice, the Polish rider managed to improve his lap times from the previous days and set his fastest lap in QP1 with a time of 1:55.123. Despite making good progress over the weekend, the young H43 Team Nobby rider was unable to qualify for Sunday’s race. He still had one more chance, in the ‘last chance race’, in which he crashed out with three laps to go when he was fighting for a top-three finish.

Manuel Hernández (Team Manager)“Mateusz Pasiuk is having a great evolution, with the lap-time he had he would have qualified last year, and the truth is that we hope to have better results in the next races”.

The next round of the FIM CEV Repsol will be at MotorLand Aragón on the weekend of 24 and 25 July.
