H43 Team Nobby returns to the podium in both Aragon races

Simon Jespersen takes third place in both races at MotorLand, Aragon

The Spanish Championship came to the MotorLand Aragon circuit for the third round of the ESBK. The H43 Team Nobby came to the event with the aim of continuing to achieve great results in the Supersport and Moto4 categories.

The weekend was marked by changing weather conditions from the first day of free practice. The weather conditioned all the sessions, but despite this, the team was able to overcome it and achieved great results.

The H43 Team Nobby riders managed to improve their times in Friday’s free practice. After a very intense FP’s the most outstanding rider was Simon Jespersen, who finished fifth in FP2 with a time of 1:56.823. The rest of the riders also had an outstanding performance and managed to lower their times as the day went on.

In Saturday’s qualifying session, rain was the main protagonist. Despite the weather, the team managed to handle all the adversities that occurred during the session in the best possible way. On the one hand, Simon Jespersen continued with the good dynamic and was able to qualify in fourth position with a time of 2:05.711. Another of the other outstanding riders was Joan Díaz, who took fifth place, just fifty-four thousandths of a second behind his team-mate Jespersen, despite having suffered a fall at the start of the session. Juan Rodríguez was tenth and Davide Fabbri twenty-first.

The first race of the weekend went very well for H43 Team Nobby. Simon Jespersen, after a great start, made it to the podium in third position. The Danish rider kept a great pace throughout the race and was the fastest in two sectors. For his part, Joan Díaz finished in sixth place, once again proving to be very consistent throughout the race. Juan Rodríguez was not lucky, after a bad start in which he lost several positions, the H43 Team Nobby rider managed to recover them a few laps later until, just before the end, one of his rivals pushed him off the track; finally he could finish the race thirteenth. Finally, Davide Fabbri finished twentieth, the Italian rider did not have a good feeling with the bike and this factor was noticeable in the race.

In Sunday’s race, the H43 Team Nobby was once again at the top of the Supersport class. Simon Jespersen finished third and was able to celebrate another podium finish. For his part, Joan Diaz had a good race finishing in eighth place and gradually approaching the front group. Another outstanding rider was Juan Rodríguez who managed to finish in the top ten. The H43 Team Nobby rider has improved notably, he has had a great race pace and has been seen with a lot of confidence. On the other hand, Davide Fabbri finished seventeenth, improving his result from the previous day.

Simon Jespersen #43: “This weekend was a bit stressful from the beginning, because in the first moments my feeling with the bike was not the best. I was feeling good about myself because we had done a test recently, but we couldn’t get the bike ready in the first sessions. The team worked well and we found solutions for the races and we managed to finish on the podium in both races. In the end, we always want more, we want better results and to get to the top of the podium, but I am happy to be getting good results and to be on the podium consistently. I think we can do very well in Barcelona, I feel very comfortable with the bike and I think now I just have to work with myself, with my mind. We have learned a lot this weekend, the whole team has worked very well and they help me a lot, so we are ready to keep fighting”.

Joan Díaz #19: “It has been a strange weekend at MotorLand, especially because of the weather. We had rain, heat… it changed a lot and it was difficult to understand the track. The weekend in general went well, in qualifying we had some chaos, but in the end I was able to qualify in fifth position. The first race was good, I finished sixth, and the second race was also good, but I think I needed a bit more pace to get to the front. We have to keep working for the next races. I want to thank my team and sponsors”.

Juan Rodríguez #38: “This weekend went quite well, except in the first race when I didn’t have a good start and lost four positions, then I was able to recover them but in the corkscrew corner I was overtaken by a rival and he pushed me off the track. With Sunday’s race I am more satisfied because I was good, I finished tenth and I had a very good feeling”

Davide Fabbri #64“It was a very difficult weekend. Since Thursday I didn’t feel confident with the bike and I had a problem that hurt us. I thank the team because they have done a great job, I am sure that in the next race I will be able to do much better and I will be more confident with the bike”

Manuel Hernández (Team Manager)“With all the weather conditions and all the adversities we have had during the whole weekend we have achieved some positive results. Simon has two podiums, Joan has been in front and Juan Rodríguez is getting closer and closer. In the Supersport category we are the first Michelin team with a big difference from the rest, this means that we are working and we want to get to the top as fast as possible. We are continuing in the same vein as almost always and I hope that this will be very repetitive throughout the year. The important thing is that we are always competitive, this is very important. As for the riders, with Simon we have everything very clear, with the rest, who are still developing, every day they are closer to the front group and that is very good news, that there is more than one rider close to the front”.

A weekend of learning for Carlos Cano

The young rider from Murcia has fought to be close to the front in a very difficult weekend for all the riders.

The first race was marked by the weather conditions. Despite the intermittent rain, the young H43 Team Nobby rider managed to fight for the top positions during the qualifying session and the race. In QP he set his best time of the weekend with a time of 2:22.398, a time that put him in fourth place, just one tenth of a second behind the third placed rider. In the race, Carlos Cano was fighting for the podium for most of the race until the last laps when he broke away from the front group. He finally finished in fourth place.

On Sunday, in the second race, Carlos Cano did not have a good start, which caused him to lose a couple of positions until he finished in sixth place. The young H43 Team Nobby rider tried throughout the race to get into the front group, but in the end he finished sixth, keeping a constant pace throughout the race.

Carlos Cano #71: “The weekend didn’t go very well for me, I was hoping to do better but it wasn’t to be. Anyway, I have learned a lot with the whole team, with the mechanics, the telemetricians, in general, with everyone in the team. I thank all of them because with their work I was able to be at the front. We are already thinking about the next race”

Manuel Hernández (Team Manager)“Regarding Carlos Cano, after the weekend we have had with these weather conditions, we have not been able to do a dry practice, only the warm up. He is a rider who doesn’t have a lot of experience, we don’t have a lot of data from previous years and this has hurt us, we couldn’t be as high as we wanted to be. The important thing is that he is still learning and training”

The next ESBK race will be held at the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit on the weekend of 17 and 18 July.
