H43 Team Nobby continues good progress in Barcelona

H43 Team Nobby riders improve on previous races and continue their upward trend

The European Championship arrived in Barcelona for the third round of the FIM CEV Repsol. The H43 Team Nobby came to the event with the aim of continuing to improve in the Superstock600 and Hawkers European Talent Cup categories.

German rider Nicolas Czyuba is still recovering from his injury and could not be present this weekend, his place was taken by Spanish rider Alex Pérez, who made his debut with the team. In addition, H43 Team Nobby had a new member in the box, Mateusz Pasiuk. The school rider took part in the Hawkers European Talent Cup to gain experience for the future.

In free practice on Friday, the H43 Team Nobby riders managed to improve their times as the day went on. Guillermo Moreno set his best time in FP2 with a time of 1:49.577. Alex Pérez also improved in the second free practice with a time of 1:50.752, which was almost two seconds faster than in the first free practice.

Qualifying day was marked by Guillermo Moreno’s long lap penalty for Sunday’s first race and disqualification from QP1. Despite the penalty, the Mexican rider managed to be sixth fastest on Saturday with his QP2 time (1:49.459). On the other hand, Alex Pérez finished seventh with a time of 1:49.571.

The race day was positive for the H43 Team Nobby riders in the Superstock600 class. In the first race, Guillermo Moreno, despite the long lap that dropped him back to seventh position, managed to come back to finish the race in fifth place. The Spanish rider, Alex Pérez, finished sixth with a constant and competitive pace.

In the second race Guillermo Moreno was fighting for the podium for most of the race with a great pace. Finally, in the last laps, due to tyre wear, he dropped back a few positions to finish the race in fifth place. Álex Pérez repeated the same result as in the first race: the H43 Team Nobby rider finished sixth.

Guillermo Moreno: “It has been a very good weekend, we have improved a lot from the first race to this one. In the first race I had a penalty in which I had to do a long lap that took me to seventh place. I came back and was able to finish fifth. In the second race I started with the group fighting for second place, I was with them all the time and that is very positive because I had never been so far ahead. As the laps went by, I couldn’t manage the front tyre better and I lost grip. All in all, it was a very good weekend.”

Alex Pérez“It has been a very positive weekend after the bad start of the season with the crash I had in the pre-season that didn’t allow us to train enough. In addition, I had a break in the fifth metacarpal a month ago and I’m not fully recovered. In spite of everything, we are making progress and improving the feeling. I’ve been very comfortable with the bike and the team all weekend.”

Manuel Hernández (Team Manager): “It has been a positive weekend with a lot of hard work. Alex Pérez, replacing Nicolas Czyba due to injury, made his debut with the team. Alex did not have a good start to the year due to injury and is still recovering from it. He has felt very comfortable with the team and we have felt very comfortable with him, so it has been a good experience together. Regarding Guillermo, we are very happy, this weekend he has made a big jump in quality. He has been much more competitive from the first day and he has felt much more comfortable with the team and the bike. He had some bad luck, in the first race with the penalty and in the second race, when he was fighting for the podium, a Moto2 bike got in his way and he lost contact with the front group.”

Mateusz Pasiuk makes his debut in the Hawkers European Talent Cup

The Polish rider made his debut in the Hawkers European Talent Cup with H43 Team Nobby to add a new experience to his sporting career. The young rider competed in Group B and went from strength to strength in Friday’s free practice, setting his fastest time in FP2 with a best lap of 1:59.235, two seconds off his FP1 time.

On qualifying day, the young H43 Team Nobby rider continued to improve his lap times and was just eight tenths away from a direct entry into Sunday’s race. He still had one chance left, in the form of a repechage, where Pasiuk was unlucky to crash on the last lap while fighting for the leading positions and was unable to finish the race.

Manuel Hernández (team manager)“With Mateusz we have seen a very good progression. He is a rider of our school who hadn’t raced on a big circuit for a year, we took this race as a training session and he was only eight tenths of a second away from entering the final race, which is a good result, we couldn’t ask for more.”

The next race of the FIM CEV Repsol will be at the Autodromo Algarve on the 4th of July.
